PERKEPIS or Sarawak Muslims’ Welfare Association is a Muslim students’ organization founded by a group of medical students in 1997 and officially registered in 2005 under Societies Act 1966 (Akta Pertubuhan 1966). The non government organization gathers school and university students around Sarawak to nurture the power of Islamic knowledge among the local society. The motto, ‘Contribute for The Society (Ummah)’ motivates a lot of Sarawak Muslim youths to confront and bring evolution to the society. Till today, PERKEPIS still stand strong to organize educational programs, even without a concrete financial resource.
